Dr. Jacobs (2017)
I took it when it was 2L06, but it’s an awesome course that exposes you to all aspects of biology and helps develop applicable skills for the future.
(2018)
Take this if you are ok with labs because most of the course is weighted in labs. A mixed bag of different aspects of biology. This past year (2018) we did ecology, microbiology, physiology, genetics and plants. The small class was really nice and I got to meet people and make friends through it, and there is a lot of opportunities/expectations for participation in lecture (whether that is good or bad for you, you decide). Dr. Jacobs was a little intense but overall knowledgeable on the topics, but lectures sometimes felt unrelated to the general course for me. The course is also rather fast-paced since it is a full-year course condensed into a semester. Final exam is take-home, you have to answer some theory questions and make a mock lab outline. There is no textbook.
Dr. Stone/Doc Roc (Fall 2022)
Doc Roc was a super fun guy (he always gave us candy after lecture lol) it was fun to develop experiments and test them out, it felt really helpful (especially if you plan on pursuing research later in undergrad). Lectures were a little stats heavy which can be tough if you haven’t taken a stats course before. Labs were scheduled to be 4 hours/week but we’d almost always finish within 2. 100% recommend
Textbook: Not required
Methods of Evaluation: Tests, Assignments, Lab Reports
